E-commerce is confirmed as a fundamental driver for economic, social, and environmental development in Italy. The sector has generated a total impact of 150.1 billion euros, of which 88.6 billion euros are added value—equivalent to 7% of the Italian Gross Domestic Product, marking a 6.6% growth from the previous year. This value is divided into three main components: 58.9 billion euros from direct impacts resulting from the activities of online sellers; 50 billion euros from indirect impacts, meaning the economic contribution of suppliers and upstream and downstream services; and 41.2 billion euros from induced impacts, which are the positive effects on the rest of the economic system.
